BIO’s Herd Recording Service is a system for commercial and purebred cow-calf producers to keep records on all of their animals, regardless of breed composition. The goal of this service is to provide valuable decision-making tools to increase profitability.

Productivity and profitability of your cow herd will increase with your improved ability to:

• Keep inventory records (historical and current) on your cow herd
• Create and market uniform groups of calves
• Select heifer replacements and compare sire performance
• Track your herd performance relative to provincial benchmarks

In the Herd Recording Start-Up Kit, we have included all the materials necessary to make BIO's Herd Recording Service to be easy to use. After processing your data, you will receive the following reports:

• Herd Management and Performance Report - a great tool to help you assess the performance of your herd compared to a provincial average benchmark herd.
• Cow Productivity Report - valuable information on the individual performance of every cow in your herd.
• Weaning Report - detailed information on your current calf crop performance.
• Additionally, your birth date information will go into the age verification database (CCIA).
• Cow Production & Performance Record? -  a complete snapshot of her pedigree, performance, genetic evaluations and progeny and their performance. (? additional charges apply)

To help you make genetic selection decisions, you will receive up-to-date Across-Breed Comparisons (ABCs or Across-Breed EPDs) for all your cows, calves and bulls. ABCs are considered by many breeders to be the most proven and reliable method for the selection of genetic traits.
